Our Community Is Growing And So Is Our Team

Well, that escalated quickly.

We launched PHX FWD at the beginning of Q4 2023, and we're ready to add to our team, so we can accomplish everything we're aiming for in 2024.

If you're an ambitious self-starter who loves that startup energy and wants to be at the center of our software ecosystem, this is a job you should consider. Programs &Events Manager

Location: Hybrid (1-2 days/week in person)

Time Commitment: Full Time (40 hrs/wk)

Reports to: Executive Director

 

About PHX FWD

PHX FWD is committed to making Phoenix a top software city.

Through our work, we provide the software community with a steady stream of high-value content through events, programs, social media, and a podcast. As part of our 2024 plan, we intend to create more channels for helping and inspiring our community. This will include new learning programs, workshops, a newsletter, reports, and events. We partner and collaborate with other impact organizations that support the tech ecosystem in AZ.

This role includes using and expanding skills in several critical business functions: marketing, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, coalition-building, and fast execution. While PHXFWD is a nonprofit entity, we operate like a startup. We’re a small team that’s all about getting things done, learning, and iterating.

Our goal is to have a community that’s10,000 members strong.

Responsibilities

-      Help plan and execute events and workshops from conception to completion.

-     Contribute to the development of marketing and own execution of marketing strategies including email, website, social media, and grassroots.

-     Develop engaging and informative content for the PHX FWD newsletter, blog, and social media.

-      Analyze metrics against goals and make recommendations to optimize engagement.

-      Stay current on and curate the latest research on the Phoenix software ecosystem including venture capital data, and how it compares to other areas of tech in Phoenix.

-      Ensure website is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with goals.

-     Work with stakeholders from partner impact organizations, economic development orgs, and learning institutions, to collaborate on programs and other initiatives to achieve shared goals.

-      Help brainstorm new, creative, grassroots ideas to engage software founders and other members of the software community. 

-      Frequently network within the local tech ecosystem, including attending events and meet ups with founders, funders, and community leaders.

-      Assist PHX Ventures with marketing initiatives.

-      Be an active participant in the local community as well as professionally on social media, connecting your personal brand to PHX FWD.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

-      Proven experience in marketing, impact work, or economic development.

-      Experience working inside a tech startup a plus.

-      A self-starter who likes to work collaboratively and isn’t afraid to make decisions and take action.

-      A strong growth-mindset and positive attitude.

-      Desire to jump into anything that needs to be done, regardless of outcome uncertainty.

-      Excitement to be on the ground floor of a something big.

-      Exceptional organizational abilities with a tendency towards a proactive approach to problem solving vs. waiting for direction.

-      Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

-      Proficiency in using social media platforms and content creation tools.

-      Analytical skills for data interpretation and report generation.
